The gates looked exactly as I had imagined, I learned that the reason behind the red coloured gates is that the colour chases away evil and purifies you. There are many small prayer stations where you can make an offering and ring the bell to make a prayer. Leading up the mountain are more gates they are called the thousand gates but including the very small ones there are over 10,000 total. It was beautiful, the gates marked a path up the mountain and were surrounded by lush forest on all sides, the light rain that started falling was cool and refreshing and helped put some of the members of our group in better spirits.
