Arashiyama

We took the express trains to Arashiyama, they were much more spacious than the trains we had taken previously to get around Osaka. It took around 20 minutes to climb to the top of the mountain, the forest was so lush and green that one could almost forget that they were so close to the city. The top of the mountain overlooked Kyoto and if you looked closely enough you could see Kyoto tower in the distance. It was also covered in monkeys. The monkeys roamed around in between tourists and their keepers sometimes getting into fights and shrieking at each other. There was a building where you could buy bananas, apples or peanuts and feed the monkeys through the chicken wire windows. It was amazing how the monkeys ate with such proficiency, they took the shells and peels off the food quickly, ate it and then were back to looking for more food.
