When we got off we were greeting by hundreds of deer roaming among the crowds of people. Many small stands selling crackers to feed to them. We walked over to the Todaiji temple and inside there was an enormous statues of Buda it was 15 meters tall. The temple is amazing, it boggles the mind to think that people made such an impressive structure with such primitive technology. When we were given free time, Tia and I merged elected to travel with another group containing Cody, CC and Ryan. We wandered around for a while before deciding to get lunch at a local udon shop, it was an interesting experience and it took most of our Japanese knowledge to order our food and pay for it. I discovered an amazing Japanese snack called “baby castara” it tastes like soft waffle cones.

For diner we walked to a local cafe and were served large rice omelettes and pudding for dessert. Japanese pudding is very different from western pudding, it is harder and less sweet,( more of an egg pudding). I couldn’t finish my rice omelette but thankfully a friend at my table was able to help.

Tomorrow morning we leave Osaka and head to Kyoto.

We started our day by hopping on a charter bus to Nara.
